Carbitex, a specialist in flexible carbon fiber composites, has teamed up with performance insole brand Blumaka to create a new carbon-plated insole designed to defend against turf toe – a hyperextension of the big-toe joint. It is a common injury that can force players to miss significant playing time.
The new Blumaka Carbon Elite insole leverages Carbitex patented GearFlex technology, a carbon-fiber innovation that adapts dynamically, flexing at lower angles to allow for natural running motion but stiffening at higher angles to prevent hyperextension of the big-toe joint. Standard carbon-fiber insoles flex in both directions, providing minimal to no performance benefit. This technology is paired with Blumaka’s proprietary Konnect Ground Reaction Force (GRF) technology, designed to ensure maximum energy transfer.
Carbitex, based in Kennewick, Washington, specializes in carbon-fiber composites with a focus on the footwear market and partners with brands like Saucony, Scott and Footjoy.
Blumaka, based in Santa Barbara, California, produces high-performance insoles made from up to 85 percent recycled materials, using no chemicals and what it calls “cleaner manufacturing,” with ”near-zero water.”
