CNCPTS and New Balance are set to release the 997 “Montage,” a raw, grunge-inspired take on the classic silhouette, available online and in-store starting Dec. 11 for $220.

The collaboration between CNCPTS and New Balance marks a full-circle moment for the two brands, celebrating their history of influential partnerships while introducing a design rooted in the grunge and punk ethos of the early ’90s.

Unlike previous CNCPTS x New Balance releases that focused on tonal balance and premium materials, the “Montage” embraces a raw, distressed aesthetic. The shoe features an intentionally undone finish, scuffed midsoles, and marker-style details reminiscent of DIY zines from the era. Its layered textures and exposed tongue evoke a “work-in-progress” feel, while contrasting “N” logos symbolize cultural duality.

The release will kick off with an online raffle for in-store pairs at CNCPTS Boston and New York on Dec. 10, followed by a limited online drop on cncpts.com on Dec. 11 at 10 am EST. Retail price is set at $220 (€210).

To celebrate, CNCPTS and New Balance will host an event at Lou’s, a vinyl lounge in Cambridge, MA, on Dec. 10, featuring music and community activations.
