INTERSPORT has become the newest global partner of FIBA, basketball’s international governing body, in a deal running through 2031, taking on event retail operations for several of the sport’s flagship national team competitions. The five-year agreement covers the next two editions of the FIBA Basketball World Cup for men and women, the FIBA Continental Cups and the U17 Basketball World Cups for both genders.

INTERSPORT will handle official retail operations for the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup 2026 in Berlin and the men’s edition in France in 2031.

The deal builds on INTERSPORT’s expansion into sports retail rights beyond its core categories. In March the cooperative won retail rights to sell official merchandise for Greek national football teams. Basketball adds a new global event calendar to that portfolio at a time when INTERSPORT is consolidating store formats and logistics across Europe to keep pace with vertically integrated rivals such as Decathlon.

Beyond event retail, FIBA and INTERSPORT will co-develop lifestyle and non-competition products sold exclusively through INTERSPORT’s network starting in 2027. INTERSPORT becomes FIBA’s ninth global partner, joining Nike, Tissot, Molten, Ganten, Smart, TCL, XTB and Yili. The addition follows a run of commercial activity at FIBA this year, including a Ticketmaster partnership for the 2027 men’s World Cup in Qatar and a three-year logistics renewal with Kuehne+Nagel.
