Jordan Brand is introducing its El Vuelo footwear collection, which honors the tradition of Lucha Libre. “The collection is named for the spirit and strength of luchadores as they launch themselves into the air, mirroring Michael Jordan’s unforgettable moments of flight, where he seemed to defy gravity to achieve the impossible,” explains the brand.
The collection includes exclusive styles of the Air Jordan 3 Retro and Jordan Brand Spizike Low, both celebrating Lucha Libre through specific design details. The Air Jordan 3 Retro El Vuelo, which is the collection’s flagship model, features a new expression of the silhouette’s Elephant Print alongside details inspired by eagle wings and the geometric shapes that frame luchador masks. The Spizike Low El Vuelo features a crackled texture that is meant to resemble rattlesnake skin, to represent the forceful personas behind luchador masks. The packaging of both silhouettes includes a design inspired by the Lucha Libre posters, which can be seen in the streets of Mexico City.
After a limited initial release in Mexico, the El Vuelo collection is now available globally at jordan.com and select retail locations.
