Superga is launching the 2750 Made in Italy, a new chapter to celebrate the history of its iconic 2750 canvas shoe. The brand, which has been part of the BasicNet portfolio since 2007, presented the limited edition at Pitti Uomo 107 in Florence earlier this month.

The design of the new Superga 1925 Made In Italy has been revisited with new details but the design remains faithful to the historic model, with cotton as a protagonist and the usual logo in a rubber back patch.

Superga 100 years shoe.

Superga was founded in Turin by Italo-Swiss entrepreneur Walter Martiny in 1911. Martiny launched, for the first time in Italy, the production of vulcanized rubber articles, a technology invented by Charles Goodyear. In 1913, Superga produced waterproof rubber boots, which helped protect workers in marshes and rice fields.

In 1925, Martiny created the 2750, one of the first sports shoes in the world to feature a vulcanized rubber sole, known ever since as “the classic Superga.” Martiny originally created the 2750 to meet the needs of his wife as a tennis player. At that time, tennis players used canvas shoes with a rope sole.
