British sports brand Umbro has launched a new campaign that celebrates the brand’s origins in Manchester, as well as a Centenary Collection for spring/summer 2024. The collection, which takes inspiration from the brand’s design history and multi-sports roots, combines heritage elements with trend-led graphics and silhouettes.
Special emphasis is given to football with new shirts inspired by kits of the late 1970s and early 1980s.
Founded by Harold Humphreys, Umbro’s activities started in Manchester’s Northern Quarter in 1924, and ever since, the brand’s story has been interlaced with the city’s industrial history. At its height, Manchester and the Northern Quarter were often referred to as “Cottonopolis.”
