The new football pitches will be located at Olympafrica Centers, which promote sport and Olympic values among young Africans.

The Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA) has announced a partnership with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and FIFA that provides for the creation of 50 football pitches at Olympafrica Centers on the continent. Olympafrica Centers, owned by the Olympafrica Foundation, are multi-purpose facilities that give thousands of young Africans access to sports and Olympic values. There are more than 50 functional Olympafrica Centers across the continent.

The agreement seeks to address key sport-development issues in Africa. These include equitable access to sport, the promotion of educational values through football, talent identification and development, and sustainability and community impact.

FIFA will be providing technical and financial support for the construction and equipping of the pitches, while ANOCA will be coordinating with the Olympafrica Centers to ensure that the pitches meet the needs of young people and local communities. ANOCA will also organize regular sports activities, tournaments and educational workshops, to maximize the impact of these facilities.

Each pitch will be designed to be accessible also to young people with disabilities. In addition, programs will be developed to encourage the participation of young girls in football.
