Garmin's outdoor segment posted a sales increase of only 1 percent to $81.0 million in the second quarter ended June 25, generating operating income of $35.7 million. However, the management is projecting a higher growth rate for the third quarter following the launch of updated product lines and the acquisition of TriTronics, a leading supplier of dog training equipment. The fitness segment's revenues increased by 25 percent to $78 million, with strong results for the high-end Forerunner 610 and Edge 800 lines, and operating income of $24.7 million. Across the group, revenues rose to $1,181,933 in the quarter from $1,159,833 in the year-ago period, but operating earnings declined to $206,344 from $285,391.
