Golf ‘us is considering possible legal action to obtain payment for some €200,000 worth of products delivered to the pro shops of Aymerich Management in Spain on a consignment basis. Two years ago, the Italian-based golf retail chain obtained a supply contract, due to expire at the end of this year, for all 11 of the Spanish golf shops run by Aymerich, but it has not been paid since last spring. Facing serious financial problems, Aymerich sold two stores in 2010, and then transferred ownership of its remaining assets to another company controlled by Antonio Garrido, a real estate operator who has other investments. Reportedly, Garrido owes money to many others including the Spanish social security. He could not be reached for comment. Officials of Aymerich, which is not yet in bankruptcy proceedings, said its remaining golf stores have been running lately with a minimum of inventories, buying some products from local suppliers. As for Golf ‘us, the company boosted its sales by 17 percent in the first seven months of this year, but the demand has been softening since then, leading to flat sales in its stores.
