The Wels-based cooperative strengthens its grip on Central and South-Eastern European sports retail with a deal that brings eight new markets under its management and positions it to cross the €1 billion sales threshold.

INTERSPORT Austria has completed its acquisition of the INTERSPORT Slovenia Group, a move that expands the Wels-based cooperative’s managed footprint to 12 countries and supports its goal of surpassing €1 billion in annual sales.

The transaction, cleared by competition authorities before completion, broadens INTERSPORT Austria’s remit from four markets to a network that now also includes Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Serbia, Albania, Kosovo and North Macedonia. The group said the enlarged organization comprises more than 500 stores and employs over 5,000 people across the region.

Integration begins across eight additional markets

INTERSPORT Austria said integration work will start immediately, with a review of processes across the combined business aimed at identifying synergies in areas such as purchasing, inventory management, logistics and e-commerce operations. Local management teams will remain in place during the transition.
