Nike, Inc. has appointed Jane Ewing executive vice president and chief commercial officer, effective Sept. 7. Ewing will report directly to president and chief executive Elliott Hill and join Nike’s Senior Leadership Team, taking charge of the company’s global Marketplace organization, which spans wholesale sales and Nike Direct.

The move places wholesale and direct-to-consumer under a single commercial leader for the first time in Nike’s recent structure, a change that comes as the company works to rebuild wholesale relationships it scaled back during its earlier direct-to-consumer push. Folding sales and Nike Direct into one reporting line gives Nike a single point of accountability for balancing retail partner demand against its own stores and digital channels, a tension that has shaped much of its strategy since Hill became CEO in October 2024.

Jane Ewing will join NIKE, Inc. as Executive Vice President & Chief Commercial Officer, effective September 7.

Ewing joins Nike after almost 14 years at Walmart, where she most recently served as interim chief executive of Sam’s Club China, overseeing a multibillion-dollar membership business across 30 cities during a leadership transition. Earlier Walmart roles spanned merchandising, digital acceleration and international operations. Before Walmart, she led a global division at Diageo, delivering double-digit revenue and profit growth across travel retail.

She ran track in Nike spikes as a teenager. Now she runs its commercial engine.

Three vice presidents will report to Ewing: Erica Bullard in global sales, Shannon Glass in Nike Direct and Gail Cornelius in geography and marketplace analytics. Hill said Ewing stood out for her ability to “connect strategy to execution” while bringing teams along with her.

Nike’s next FY2027 earnings call will be held in the second half of September. The latest Q4 FY2027 earnings results are available in our Financial Results hub.
