PLC Detroit has inaugurated the Foot Locker Footwear Creation Stu/deo, situated in a Bedrock-owned building in Detroit, Michigan. The design studio promises unparalleled access and opportunities in the field, offering shoemaking workshops, sample-making services, and small footwear production capabilities.

At the ribbon-cutting ceremony, PLC Detroit President Dr. D’Wayne Edwards expressed excitement: “This space will inspire the next generation of footwear creators and design visionaries, providing them with the resources and education to excel in the industry.”

The collaboration reflects Foot Locker’s commitment to diversity in design. Executive Vice President Elliott Rodgers said, “This space further demonstrates our commitment to investing in and providing opportunities for creatives to excel in the fashion industry.”

Founded with support from the Gilbert Family Foundation and Target, PLC Detroit aims to empower creatives and foster innovation. Chairman Dan Gilbert highlighted the school’s role in shaping Detroit’s future: “Today’s announcement with Foot Locker is another example of the pathways to success that Detroit’s HBCU is opening for students in our city.”
