The collaboration marks ASICS’ first collection to combine running and tennis footwear with a single partner, using FP Movement’s community-driven positioning in women’s activewear to extend distribution beyond core performance retail into lifestyle-driven channels.

Free People activewear label FP Movement has teamed with ASICS for its first footwear collaboration, releasing two shoes that combine ASICS running and tennis technology with FP Movement lifestyle design. The styles are available on FPMovement.com and ASICS.com, as well as at select FP Movement stores and select Dick’s Sporting Goods locations.

Two shoes across running and tennis

The GEL NIMBUS 28 running shoe is finished in orange and uses ASICS FF BLAST PLUS cushioning with PureGEL. The GEL CHALLENGER 15 tennis shoe features FP Movement paisley detailing and includes ASICS WINGWALL support for lateral stability.

For FP Movement, the tie up adds performance credibility in footwear, a category where the brand has not built its own technical track record. For ASICS, it offers access to a fashion minded, largely female activewear customer who may not shop specialty running or tennis retail. FP Movement community programming, including run clubs, wellness events and local activations, provides a different channel than traditional performance marketing.

The collaboration also links two fast growing categories, running and racquet sports, in a single drop. That is an unusual pairing for ASICS.

FP Movement growth story

FP Movement started in 2012 as an activewear category inside Free People, then evolved into a standalone brand with its own stores and community led positioning. The brand opened its first freestanding store in Century City, Los Angeles, in October 2020. The company now operates close to 100 stores nationwide, alongside online sales and wholesale distribution through partners including Dick’s Sporting Goods and Nordstrom. Parent company Urban Outfitters has cited FP Movement as a growth driver within the broader Free People business.

Unlike performance first sportswear brands, FP Movement sells across running, hiking, racquet sports, yoga and skiing, built around lifestyle and community. ASICS footwear expertise helps close the technical gap.

FP Movement is supporting the release with a Golden Hour Community Run Series, including a sunrise run in Los Angeles followed by a recovery cafe and lounge, and an evening run in New York followed by a studio takeover with red light therapy and wellness elixirs.
