Nike’s sportswear business has been one of the weakest parts of its recent performance. The company’s latest response is Studio Fleece, a streamlined collection developed with insights from more than 300 women and launched alongside the men’s Solo Fleece line as part of its broader Sport Offense strategy.
Nike is using a new fleece collection to support the turnaround of its sportswear business. On July 30, the company launched Studio Fleece, a women’s collection of hoodies, sweatshirts, shorts and sweatpants, alongside the men’s Solo Fleece line. With the two collections, Nike is betting that a simplified range of everyday essentials will drive repeat purchases and help rebuild momentum in a category that has recently underperformed.
A fleece system built around women
At the center of the launch is a collection developed using insights from more than 300 women around the world. Nike says feedback from those consumers shaped everything from softness and structure to fit and color performance. The company frames the work as part of a broader effort to build products for women from the ground up, rather than adapting men’s silhouettes.
The collection is designed as a unified system, not a seasonal assortment. Studio Fleece includes crewnecks, quarter-zips, full-zip and pullover hoodies, shorts and sweatpants, offered in two fits: a closer-cut standard fit and a roomier oversized fit. Products come in three fabric weights, allowing consumers to build a wardrobe around a consistent set of silhouettes.
Simplicity over technical innovation
The launch signals a shift from Nike’s long-running Tech Fleece franchise. While Tech Fleece built its reputation on performance-led innovation, Studio Fleece emphasizes consistency, versatility and ease of wear.
The collection launches in two core colorways, Total Black and Birch Heather. Garments in Total Black use a proprietary dye process designed to maintain a deeper black appearance for at least 30 washes (sic). On the men’s side, Nike is introducing Solo Fleece, a companion collection positioned around the same simplified approach to everyday sportswear.

What’s next
Studio Fleece and Solo Fleece are available now through Nike and selected retail partners across North America, Europe, the Middle East and Africa. The launch campaign features athletes including Alysa Liu, Sha’Carri Richardson and Moses Itauma, alongside entertainers Karina and Yeat. The collections will roll out globally from Sept. 1, with additional styles planned in the coming months.
