Sportsshoes.com’s app, launched in August 2024, has been downloaded 150,000 times. The retailer has a turnover of £90 million (€107.7m), with expansion plans to enhance the online retail experience for customers. The app also serves as a platform for customer engagement and to support the wider athlete community.
In the app, customers can access personalised product and content suggestions based on previous activity and preferences, with a standard shopping feed as a secondary option. They can also access exclusive competitions offering a range of prizes. There are customer membership options throughout the shopping journey, allowing users to sync their England Athletics profile with their SportsShoes.com account. Their running and fitness data is thereby combined with their shopping habits to provide a more bespoke retail experience and tailor content suggestions further.
In addition, users who are also members of the Vitality Programme can access discounted products through the app, thanks to a retail partnership that SportsShoes.com signed in January with health and life insurer Vitality.
Established in 1982, Bradford-based Sportsshoes.com offers customers more than 17,000 products from 150 running and outdoor brands. From a running perspective these include Asics, Nike, Adidas, Hoka, New Balance and Brooks, while in terms of outdoor, they include Salomon, Montane, Rab and Patagonia.
