A large majority of World Triathlon members at the latest Congress of the sport governing body earlier this month voted in favor of the integration of two new disciplines: Fitness Racing and Swimrun. Fitness Racing is the multi-sport competition format developed by international fitness brand Hyrox. Swimrun follows the format of the Swedish-originated race Ötillö, which means “from island to island.”
The World Triathlon XXXVIII Congress was held in Wollongong, Australia on Oct. 18, 2025, alongside the extensive schedule of the five-day 2025 World Triathlon Championship Finals. It was the first Congress under President Antonio F. Arimany, elected in October 2024.
The Congress also approved the addition of Timor-Leste and Albania as Full Members of the organization, as well as the inclusion of the Balkan Triathlon Association as an Associated Member.
