The sport of padel, which has been experiencing rapid growth across continents, will be further integrated into the international university sports movement.

The International University Sports Federation (FISU) has granted official recognition to the International Padel Federation (FIP). The FIP’s submission “demonstrated the sport’s rapid growth, global appeal, and alignment with FISU’s mission of fostering innovation, inclusivity, and excellence in university sports,” said FISU in a statement.

Following the official recognition of padel within FISU, both organizations will now work towards formalizing their cooperation. A Memorandum of Understanding will draw the basis for a series of joint initiatives and development opportunities to feature padel in the university competitions.

Founded in 1949, FISU works to expand the role and reach of university sport around the world. FISU, headquartered in Lausanne, organizes sports and educational events internationally, offering university students the opportunity to connect in a competitive and collaborative environment.
