To grow its business strategically across Europe, Skechers has announced the planned relocation of its European Distribution Center (EDC) operations to a larger, single facility in Liege, Belgium. The EDC is a 200,000-square-meter distribution that will allow Skechers to increase the volume of goods shipped to meet the expected demand over the next decade, the company communicated.
“Skechers had seen a 30 percent increase in sales in the EMEA region in the third quarter of 2024,” said David Weinberg, Chief Operating Officer of Skechers. “We believe that increased infrastructure and staffing will be required at our European distribution center as the territories served by the facility are expected to play a key role in our anticipated near- and long-term growth,” he concluded.
To ensure seamless, uninterrupted operations, Skechers EDC will begin its phased move to the new site in 2028. The site will be located minutes from Liege Airport, adjacent to major highways, and just 12 km from the company’s current center. The building will be designed to achieve BREEAM: Excellent and will incorporate renewable energy features. Skechers anticipates the need for additional employees at the facility with the planned expansion of its business and logistics capabilities.
