Onitsuka Tiger’s Spring/Summer 2027 collection reads as a travel plan for a brand on the move. The energy station metaphor used in Milan fits the journey.
Onitsuka Tiger built its Spring/Summer 2027 collection around a single idea: the energy station, the kind of crossroads where travelers from different directions stop, refuel and set off toward wherever they’re headed next. It’s a fitting image for the brand mid-journey, on its way to running as a standalone company within ASICS from Jan. 1, 2027.
At Milan Fashion Week, the ASICS -owned label summed up its 49 looks as “the fusion of tailoring and sportswear,” then went further: a new sneaker category, a redrawn signature stripe and a collaboration with Honda built around a concept motorcycle.
The company describes all of it as the opening of its next era as a luxury lifestyle label. The station is the metaphor to illustrate this: a place where identities cross and blend before moving on, and that’s essentially the design brief for a brand mixing sportswear codes, motorcycle culture and its own 77-year archive into something new.

Tailoring meets sportswear
Earth-toned suits share the runway with canvas work jackets and Muay Thai-inspired shorts, while denim carries a side stripe drawn from the brand’s archive. Delicate fabrics sit against utilitarian details, and there is also room for a grunge tone: relaxed low-rise trousers are layered under leather jackets, vests, hoodies and tank tops, with fringe recurring throughout.
It’s a long way from a heritage sneaker brand’s comfort zone, and that is the commercial point. A label born in sport needs a full wardrobe, not just shoes, to justify luxury pricing.

New sneakers, and a new stripe
Footwear is where Onitsuka Tiger began, and it’s still how most people know the brand. This season, sneakers arrive as a new category of their own, part sport, part fashion, part lifestyle, rather than heritage stock recolored for another season. And, a new Onitsuka Tiger Stripe marks the shift. Companies rarely touch the element shoppers recognize fastest; this version keeps its essence but redraws the form.
Honda joins the journey
The centerpiece of the collaboration, the Onitsuka Tiger Honda Mid Sports Concept showcased at Milan Fashion Week, is a concept rather than a product for sale, so no commercial detail comes with it. What it buys the brand is company: two Japanese names with real heritage sharing a runway moment. Honda, which has made motorcycles since 1949, sells around 20 million of them a year.

The bigger picture
None of this sits apart from the ASICS split. ASICS announced in June that it would move Onitsuka Tiger into its own company, and the steps since have gone in one direction: a new Tokyo flagship designed as a dialogue between Japan and Italy in July, then a dedicated Spanish entity this month. A standalone Onitsuka Tiger needs a visual story that supports its pricing and retail footprint, and this collection is part of building that case.
