Apex Ski Boots said it is evaluating interest from strategic and financial partners to expand its distribution capabilities. In particular, it is seeking a partnership with global companies that have access to major ski and snowboard markets outside of North America, including Europe, Asia and China. The American company is also looking at a possible diversification of its product range.

Based in Golden, Colorado, the company was co-founded in 2006 by two ski industry veterans, Roger Neiley and Denny Hanson. The Apex Ski Boot system is said to blend the comfort of a snowboard boot with an open chassis design that allows for performance skiing.

The group currently has over 75 retailers offering its products at more than 150 locations in six countries. However, the majority of its business is conducted in North America. In Europe, Apex boots are distributed through Sportcountry, a Swiss company which predominantly sells them in the U.K., the Benelux countries, Switzerland and Germany.

Meanwhile, the management also announced it is looking to use the Apex design and IP assets in a broader range of products. It pointed out that its recently issued a “Serpentine Lacing” patent that has applications across many types of footwear including hiking boots, industrial, and all-purpose footwear.
