Various national Intersport organizations are setting up a dedicated running community on the internet as part of the group’s new strategy of bringing “Sport to the People.” Following up on Intersport’s former “Run Free” campaign with Adidas and Asics, it is also sponsoring a growing number of running events.

Accessible in seven languages, Intersport’s new www.runningtothepeople.com website is described as the first pan-European internet platform for runners. It gives information on the characteristics of several products available at affiliated stores – mostly by Intersport’s Pro Touch brand, Adidas, Asics and New Balance – and gives training tips for runners of all levels.

The community website allows people to create their own profile, to look for running events and to communicate with other runners at the national and international level. They can download a special application using the GPS of their iPhones to evaluate average speed and other parameters of their running sessions.

Communicating via Facebook, Intersport France is organizing a big Running Fest on April 18. Other national Intersport organizations are sponsoring marathons of all kinds in Germany, Austria and Slovenia.
