Agilitas Sports opened its first SportsYard location in Bengaluru on Jan. 7, marking the company’s entry into large-format physical retail and completing a vertically integrated model that spans manufacturing, brand development and direct consumer engagement.

The 34,000-square-foot store – with 22,000 square feet dedicated to retail – houses over 40,000 products across footwear, apparel, wearables and accessories from more than 20 global and performance-focused brands. According to the company, SportsYard offers outlet pricing year-round rather than limiting discounts to seasonal sales.

Retail as data engine

SportsYard represents the final component in Agilitas Sports’ strategy to control the entire sporting goods value chain. The company views the retail format as a consumer insight hub where purchasing behavior and product feedback inform manufacturing decisions, pricing strategies and portfolio development at its Mochiko Shoes production facilities.

The store format goes beyond traditional retail transactions by incorporating experiential elements: pickleball courts, sneaker-care services, customization zones, workshops, weekend tournaments and sport-focused cafés. These features aim to build community engagement while generating real-time consumer data.

Abhishek Ganguly, co-founder and former Managing Director of Puma India and Southeast Asia, established Agilitas Sports in 2023 alongside co-founders Atul Bajaj, Amit Prabhu and Nayantara Parikh. The company secured backing from Nexus Venture Partners, which described the SportsYard opening as “a testament to how retail is evolving” by moving beyond transactions toward community and immersion.

Manufacturing foundation enables retail ambitions

Agilitas Sports’ retail strategy builds on manufacturing infrastructure acquired through its 2023 purchase of Mochiko Shoes, one of India’s largest sports footwear manufacturers. Mochiko operates production facilities in Dehradun, Rishikesh and Noida, supplying global brands including Adidas, Puma, Skechers, Reebok, Asics, Crocs, Decathlon, Clarks and U.S. Polo Association (USPA). The company reported approximately 642 million rupees ($7.6m/€7.3m) in revenue for fiscal year 2023.

This manufacturing control allows Agilitas Sports to manage quality standards, cost structures and supply reliability – factors the company considers essential for scaling both proprietary brands and licensed labels while maintaining competitive pricing at retail.

The company expanded its brand portfolio in mid-2025 by acquiring the Indian license for Italian sportswear brand Lotto, with revenue targets of 1 billion rupees over five years. Plans call for 10 Lotto stores by March 2026 and up to 100 mono-brand outlets within two to three years.

Kohli partnership strengthens brand positioning

In 2025, Agilitas Sports entered a strategic partnership with Indian cricket star Virat Kohli to accelerate growth of One8, his lifestyle and sportswear label. Kohli invested 40 million rupees in Agilitas Sports and continues as co-creator and investor in the brand.

Under Agilitas Sports, One8 operates independently from its previous licensing arrangement with Puma. The company plans exclusive retail outlets across India and international distribution targeting the US, UK and Australia by late 2026 or early 2027.

SportsYard will feature both Agilitas Sports’ proprietary brands – including One8 and Lotto – alongside other global sports labels, creating what the company describes as a choice-rich environment that generates consumer preference data while building direct customer relationships.
