Shimano’s net income increased by 44.4 percent to ¥19.894 billion (€126.389m-$191.876m) for the fiscal year ended Dec. 31. Net sales were up by 24.3 percent to ¥211.767 billion (€1,345m-$2,042m), and operating income grew by 49.9 percent to ¥31.336 billion (€199m-$302m). Sales of bicycle components were up by 28.54 percent from 2006 to ¥157.839 billion (€1,003m-$1,522m), and fishing tackle sales grew 14.06 percent to ¥50.376 billion (€320m-$486m). The Osaka-based company expects more modest increases for the 2008 fiscal year, forecasting a net income increase of 20.6 percent to ¥24 billion (€152.48m-$231.48m) and a 6.2 percent growth in net sales to ¥225 billion (€1,429m-$2,170m).
