Over the course of 2023 the International Padel Federation (FIP) – which conglomerates the Premier Padel, Cupra FIP Tour and FIP Promises circuits – held 160 tournaments for some 6,000 registered players. Of these 4,874 were professionals, hailing from 72 countries, and of the professionals 1,362 (28%) were women and 1,209 (25%) were juniors.
Of the countries 11 fielded – courted? – more than 100 players. Spain continued to rule the world, with 1,461 pros (30%). Then came Italy, with 433 (9%); Argentina, with 330 (7%); Chile, with 199 (4%), and Brazil, with 186 (4%).
The top African country was Egypt (146), which outranked France (141) and Mexico (134), while the top Asian country was Japan (109). The Netherlands (104) rounded out the top ten.
Spain dominated in the men’s player rankings as well, boasting 71 of the top 100 players. Argentina had 17, Italy five, Brazil three, France two, and Chile and Sweden one apiece.
For the women Spain was again first, with 76 in the top 100, followed by Italy (seven), Argentina (five), Portugal (three), France, Brazil and the Netherlands (two apiece), and Sweden, Russia and Belgium (one apiece).
