Sports Direct is expected to provide more information about its “zero-hours contracts” after settling a legal battle with an employee, Zahera Gabriel-Abraham, who complained about sex discrimination, unfair treatment and breach of holiday rights. The British retailer said the settlement did not imply an admission of liability. However, Sports Direct has reportedly agreed to be more transparent in its job advertisements and employment contracts in the U.K., stressing that they don't guarantee work for a specific number of hours, and spelling out conditions for holiday and sick pay. About 20,000 of Sports Direct's 23,000 employees in the U.K. are reported to be on zero-hours contracts. The case is due to be discussed at a court hearing at Croydon's Employment Tribunal in November.
