Crocs has pledged to have net zero carbon emissions by 2030, and to this end it will be increasing the sustainability of its materials, changing its packaging and investing in “resource use” and “product afterlife solutions.” The American brand is modifying the composition of its shoes’ main ingredient, Croslite, to make it more bio-based. About 45 percent of the material’s scrap is being recycled at present. By the end of this year the brand should be fully vegan. Last year, 85 percent of its shoes were sold without boxes. Crocs is also donating thousands of pairs of unsold footwear to the needy and urging customers to donate as well. It is purchasing carbon credits to offset its remaining carbon emissions. Crocs’ annual ESG report is due in early 2022.
