De Skihut op Scheveningen, a famous retailer of winter sports products located in the eponymous Dutch sea resort, was declared bankrupt but was then quickly rescued by Retail Investments Beilen, reports Quote, a Dutch business magazine. The publication worked out that nearly all of the shares in Retail Investments Beilen are held by Norman Klein, a real estate specialist from The Hague. He is reportedly an acquaintance of Marc Schaling, from the family that owned De Skihut the recent proceedings. However, De Skihut's receiver stated in a press release that the Schaling family is not involved in the financial reorganization. The Schaling family bought De Skihut in 2006 from Piet van der Lans, the retailer's founder and a former Olympic cyclist, who remains the owner of the large-scale facility where De Skihut is established.
