E-commerce giant Shopify unveiled over 100 updates in its Winter ’24 Edition, a biannual showcase of the latest products and innovations to significantly boost merchant productivity and creativity. Among the highlights is the introduction of Semantic Search, an AI-powered storefront search feature developed in response to evolving customer search behaviors. This feature goes beyond traditional keyword matching, understanding buyer intent to enable users to formulate more intuitive search queries.

Deann Evans, Managing Director, EMEA, at Shopify, emphasized, “Customers’ demands for better commerce experiences are ever-changing, and we’re constantly working to optimize our foundations to keep our merchants at the forefront of innovation.”

Shopify also launches Subscriptions, a free app allowing merchants to set up and manage subscriptions directly through the platform, enhancing customer experience by offering flexibility in modifying subscription orders.

To enhance B2B functionality in e-commerce, Shopify introduces two new features. Headless Storefronts enable merchants to create highly customized buyer experiences for wholesale customers while leveraging their preferred tech stack. Additionally, Sales Representative Permissions enable B2B merchants to streamline operations by assigning sales teams to customers within the Shopify platform.
