Andrea Varnier is set to become the new CEO of the organizing committee of the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games. Varnier was chosen for the role by Italy’s minister of sports, Andrea Abodi. His appointment will not be official until Italian prime minister Giorgia Meloni approves it. He would take over from Vincenzo Novari, who left the role in August. Varnier is currently CEO of Costa Edutainment, the owner of the Aquarium of Genoa, Aquafan and other amusement parks. He has more than 30 years of experience in the communication, events, sports events and entertainment industries. He previously served as an advisor to the Beijing 2008 Olympic Committee, and as image & events managing director for the Torino 2006 Olympic Winter Games.
