Ali Jawad, a 32-year-old British powerlifter, originally born in Lebanon, who competes in the class up to 59kg and won a silver medal in Rio 2016, has unveiled Accessercise, a new mobile app designed to make sport and fitness more accessible for people living with impairments. According to Jawad, the new app will fill a “gaping hole” in the disability fitness market. The app is described as “the first-ever complete fitness app created specifically for people with impairments.” It provides a comprehensive exercise and workout library, specifically designed for each impairment. It also features a “Verified Gyms” function, in which fitness facilities are ranked by users for accessibility. In addition, it hosts a social hub where users can post comments on and share workouts. The app is available on the App Store and Google Play.
