The National Basketball Association (NBA) will reportedly allow NBA clubs to exercise the option to sell international sponsorship rights for the first time, starting from the next season. According to the Sports Business Journal (SBJ), an agreement was reached between the team owners at a recent board of governors' meeting, in which the international sale of sponsorship rights was to be cleared for three years on a trial basis. So far, the NBA has controlled all sponsorship deals internationally at the league level. Under the new plans, however, sponsors can use only non-game content, such as behind-the-scenes features, according to SBJ. Highlights are also prohibited from inclusion in the trial partnerships.
