It is a busy schedule that the European Outdoor Group is having for OutDoor by ISPO 2023. Here is the program.

You will find the European Outdoor Group (EOG) at this year’s OutDoor by ISPO in Atrium 3 with a stand and a members’ lounge. On Monday (June 5) morning, EOG “will bring the European Outdoor Summit to OutDoor by ISPO” with 4 hours of EOG program on the main stage:
7:30 – 9:00 a.m. EOG industry breakfast.
9:15 – 9:30 a.m. Market Research Overview with Pauline Shepherd, head of market insights, EOG
9:30 – 9:45 a.m. Outdoor Industry Approach to Circular Business Models with Jane Turnbull, sustainability project manager, EOG
In 2023, in an effort to understand the industry’s position on circularity, EOG developed a survey for its membership. Addressing circularity topics such as aftercare and repair, take-back schemes, re-commerce, recycling and rentals, the survey has provided valuable insights across the industry. The presentation will share the highlights of this work.
9:45 – 10:00 a.m. Consumer Behavior Insights Wach and Care of Outdoor Jackets with Nina Neundorfer, sports economics BSc, University of Bayreuth
Consumer behavior regarding the use phase of outdoor jackets is little understood, and there are huge gaps in available data. However, understanding consumers’ expectations and practices is a critical part of evaluating the full life cycle impacts of garments and can support the industry in the development of better garments as well as highlight opportunities for better consumer communication and education. This presentation will present the results of a consumer study and provide insight into these behaviors across various demographics.
10:00 – 10:30 a.m. The Realities of Scaling Supply Chain Decarbonization with Katy Stevens, CSR and sustainability, EOG
The journey to carbon neutrality is long and difficult, with unexpected surprises along the way. This session will present a case study of EOG’s Carbon Reduction Project, a joint effort between several brands who actively engaged in collaboratively addressing carbon reduction and energy efficiency within their shared supply chains. The presentation will reflect upon the process and outcomes of the project and share the learnings and experiences they discovered along the way.
10:30 – 10:45 a.m. Supplier Collaboration: Implementing a Solar Rooftop Project with David Eklund, co-founder and co-CEO of Icebug
Icebug has been on a journey to reduce its carbon emissions for a number of years, with clear ambitious targets to halve the company’s CO2 footprint by 2030. Their journey includes taking as many other brands and suppliers along on this mission as possible – freely sharing their knowledge with others and collaborating to make a change. This presentation will discuss how Icebug has been working on the ground with one of their suppliers to bring low-carbon technology solutions in the form of solar panels to a factory in Vietnam and demonstrate the opportunities available for other brands to support their suppliers on reducing their emissions and making an impact on Scope 3 emissions.

10:45 - 11:15 a.m. Retail Reporting Service for the Outdoor Industry with Pauline Shepherd, head of market insights, EOG
Shepherd will introduce the new EOG Retail Sales Reporting project, outline the scope of the project, present the retailers and brands already involved and explain how to get involved in this exciting new project.
11:15 - 11:55 a.m. It’s Great Out There x Opening Up The Outdoors with Margo De Lange, secretary general, It’s Great Out There Coalition (IGOT)
IGOT is a not-for-profit collaboration on a European level launched by the outdoor industry in 2017 to increase public awareness of the benefits and positive impact of outdoor activities for individuals and for society. The coalition is embedded in the outdoor industry and works closely with its industry partners: the EOG and the European Outdoor Conservation Association (EOCA). Together, we have a vision for a sustainably profitable industry that gives back more to society and nature than it takes.
In September 2022, Opening Up the Outdoors (OUTO) was incorporated into the IGOT, allowing OUTO to scale up its work beyond the U.K. and benefit from an established governance structure and clear synergies between the two organizations. OUTO co-founder Keme Nzerem has also been appointed vice president of the coalition, further integrating the work of #itsgreatoutthere and Opening Up the Outdoors.
11:55 - 12:00 - EOS @ OutDoor by ISPO closing address
Besides that, EOG offers a list of members only and open workshops on Monday and Tuesday, for example, about their Sustainability Data Exchange Project, Tools for Traceability or Repair and Durability Workshops.
