In the run-up to the winter season’s Performance Days and Functional Fabric Fair, the winners of the 2024/25 Performance Awards were announced this week. This year, two prizes were awarded, with the Performance Award going to Long Advance for its fabric, LPD-22015- Y4E, and the new Eco Performance Award going to Pontetorto for 9203M.

Taiwan-based company Long Advance‘s winning fabric LPD-22015- Y4E is a mono-component 2-layer fabric mix of 45 percent polyester mechanical stretch and 55 percent recycled polyester from recycled textiles, laminated with a PET Membrane, weighing 147 grams. Its manufacturing process ensures all fabric can be recycled within the textile cycle, cutting waste by 30 percent compared to conventional processes. The jury also praised the feel and extraordinary look of the material.

The Eco Performance Award-winning 9203M from Pontetorto is a blend of 23 percent hemp, 69 percent recycled polyester from plastic bottles, and 9 percent recycled elastane. The material boasts a low CO2 footprint during production and focuses on lowering the release of microplastics into the environment. 9203M belongs to Pontetorto’s Techno Stretch organic series, with a 4-way stretch system providing elasticity which is also fast drying and breathable.

Performance Days take place on Nov. 03–04, 2022, at the MOC Ordercenter in Munich. Before that, you may not want to miss the Functional Fabric Fair event in Portland, Oregon, on Oct. 26–27. Digital visitors have the opportunity to follow the events online via the digital platform, The Loop
