Adidas and Skechers face a trial on June 4 in the U.S. District Court in Portland over the alleged copying of the German brand's iconic Stan Smith shoe. A few days ago, a U.S. Court of Appeals upheld a preliminary injunction barring Skechers from selling its Onix shoe, but it reversed a similar injunction covering Skechers' Cross Court model. The action came after Skechers filed an apparently unrelated lawsuit against the Big a in a California court, accusing it of false advertising and unfair competition and claiming that it suffered damages of more than $75,000 because of the recent alleged bribery scandal in youth team sponsorship programs involving former Adidas employees. Skechers claims that the scheme covered six more college players. Adidas described Skechers' complaint as “frivolous and nonsensical,” and said it should be summarily dismissed.
