Adidas is suing Pacific Brands, a large-scale Australian company specializing in the distribution of apparel brands, for allegedly copying the Three Stripes trademark. As reported by the Australian Sunday Telegraph, Pacific Brands was accused of selling a range of trainers with four stripes through cheap suburban stores such as Payless ShoeSource and DSW. The Adidas side described the stripes in Federal Court as deceptively similar to its own trademark. Although Pacific Brands is no longer selling these shoes, Adidas said that legal action was necessary to prevent any further damage to the brand and to discourage others from trying the same tactic.
