Arena has signed a sponsorship deal with Farida Osman, whom the Association of National Olympic Committees has called the “Best Female Athlete from Africa.” Born in the U.S. but raised in Cairo, Osman was a synchronized swimmer before she began racing. In 2007, at the age of 12, she won the 50m butterfly at the Pan Arab Games, breaking the Arab record in the bargain. In 2011, she won her first world title, again in the 50m butterfly, at the FINA World Junior Championship in Lima. The following year, in Barcelona, she became the first Egyptian to qualify for the World Championships. At present, Osman holds the African records for the women's 50m freestyle, 50m butterfly and 100m butterfly. Her deal with Arena runs through the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
