Days after being named GAA-GPA Footballer of the Year for the third time, Kerry captain David Clifford has unveiled “The Clifford Range,” a full sportswear collection created in partnership with McKeever Sports.
Kerry FC superstar David Clifford, fresh from winning his third GAA-GPA Footballer of the Year award on Nov. 7, has launched his first official sportswear line, “The Clifford Range,” in collaboration with McKeever Sports. The launch comes the same week Clifford received this honour and was named one of eight Kerry players in the 2025 All-Star team – reinforcing his status as the most influential figure in Gaelic football.
What’s in the collection
The range includes T-shirts, shorts, socks, hoodies, sweaters, quarter-zips, and full tracksuit tops. The line features a distinctive logo of Clifford executing his signature airborne kick – a visual that McKeever describes as capturing “the force and elevation that define Clifford’s game.” This release makes Clifford the first inter-county GAA player to launch a dedicated, co-branded apparel collection – a major milestone for Gaelic games.
The athlete economy is accelerating – from global stars to local heroes, athletes are building their own brands
Clifford’s move reflects a structural shift in the global sporting-goods industry: athletes are no longer just endorsers but brand or organization founders. Examples include Stephen Curry, whose Curry Brand (Under Armour) recently became independent, and snowboarding legend Shaun White, who founded his own snowboarding league. The economics are clear: greater ownership, direct audience reach, and stronger cultural storytelling.
The bottom line
“The Clifford Range” marks Gaelic football’s arrival in the global athlete-driven brand economy. As Clifford becomes both an on-field icon and a commercial creator, GAA athletes are entering a new era of influence.
