Camtex Fabrics, the maker of the Cambrelle moisture-absorbing footwear lining, has won a decision in a Chinese court against Wenzhou Superteng, a company that was accused of infringing the Cambrelle patents. After a two-year battle, the Zhejiang Province Rui-an City People's Court has found that Wenzhou Superteng infringed Article 57 of the trademark law of the People's Republic of China. The Court had previously confiscated 6.2 tons of imitation piqué fabric as well as an embossing roll which enabled the Chinese company to copy the trademarked design. Wenzhou Superteng appealed the original judgement, passed on Dec. 1, 2015, an appeal which failed. Camtex Fabrics decided to sue Wenzhou Superteng after catching the company selling material it claimed was Cambrelle at the Index exhibition in Geneva in 2014. The Chinese company exhibited the imitation fabric on its stand, and also had the Cambrelle logo on business cards and posters, according to Camtext Fabrics. And again, at the Cinte Techtextil China in September 2014, Wenzhou Superteng representatives were seen promoting and claiming to sell Cambrelle.
