Crocs is launching a resale program with ThredUp’s Resale-as-a-Service (RaaS) platform. Adidas did the same about a month ago, as we reported at the time, and called its program “Choose to Give Back.” Crocs’ program is called “Clean Out” and is likewise intended to help the brand achieve net-zero carbon emissions – in this case by 2030 – and establish a circular economy. Customers in the U.S. can go online and print out a shipping label from ThredUp, fill a parcel with apparel, shoes or accessories from any brand, and ship it to ThredUp free of charge. Crocs will inspect the items and prepare them for resale or dispatch them to the textile re-use firms in ThredUp’s network. In exchange, customers will receive credit and, at least initially, some kind of bonus.
