Dwight Howard, the star center of the Houston Rockets, is reportedly switching to Peak Sport, the Chinese sports brand, after an endorsement agreement of about a decade with Adidas. Peak Sport has built its brand recognition around basketball, investing in sponsorship deals with players such as Tony Parker, George Hill and C.J. Watson. Adidas, which has repeatedly stated in the last months that it wanted to step up investments in U.S. team sports, declined to comment. Its agreement with Howard dates back to 2004 and reportedly expired at the end of the latest season. A few weeks ago Forbes published a table from SportScanInfo showing sales of Howard signature shoes reaching just $1.5 million last year (against $340 million for the top seller, LeBron James) while Adidas focused more on John Wall and Damian Lillard. The report about Howard's switch, which Peak did not confirm, was spotted on Yutang Sports, a China-based sports marketing website.
