FIFA has announced the schedule for the 2026 World Cup, set to be split between Mexico, the US and Canada.

The final of one of the world’s largest sporting events will take place at New Jersey’s MetLife Stadium, which has beat out Dallas’ AT&T Stadium for the privilege in a lengthy battle.

The tournament kicks off on June 11, 2026, with the first match held at the iconic Estadio Azteca in Mexico City, whose seating capacity of 87,523 makes it the largest stadium in the championship.

MetLife Stadium is typically used by the New York Jets and New York Giants in the NFL. Its selection highlights the tournament’s geographic spread across North America, aimed at simplifying logistics for both teams and fans. In total, 16 stadiums will host 104 matches.
