Mizuno has announced a 10.7 percent jump in its consolidated net income to ¥3,143 million (€31.2m-$39.9m) for its fiscal year 2011-12, which ended March 31. Operating income jumped by 19.6 percent to ¥5.5 million (€55.6m-$69.0m). Total sales were up by 3.3 percent and reached ¥154,982 million (€1.54bn-$1.94bn). Mizuno managed to raise its sales basically in all geographical regions on a currency-neutral basis. Most important were footwear, notably running shoes, and apparel. Sales in Europe were up by 4.0 percent on a currency-neutral basis thanks to a good development of the footwear division in the running and handball segments. On the same basis, sales were up by 11.0 percent in the Americas. Sales in Japan grew by 4.0 percent, driven by running. For the current fiscal year, the group is forecasting increases of 3.2 percent in sales and 6.0 percent in ordinary earnings.
