Skechers has taken charge of its distribution in the Philippines through a subsidiary, Skechers USA Philippines. The current distributor, Trendworks International, will continue to sell Skechers products until the end of this year. According to David Weinberg, chief operating officer of Skechers USA, a “dedicated team focused on growth and delivering” the company’s “integrated capabilities” will enable Skechers to realize “immense potential” of the archipelago, “a key market for us in Southeast Asia.” According to Suzette Pasustento, country manager for the Philippines, Skechers is “presently in the first phase of re-establishing the brand in the market – setting up new offices in Manila, implementing a distribution center and we opened our first new store this month.” New product categories and a marketing campaign will follow next year, along with ten to 12 Skechers concept stores due to open within the first half. Meanwhile, the brand’s footwear and apparel will be available at department and specialty stores such as Planet Sports and the SM Store, as well as the existing Skechers stores.
