Superdry has confirmed that it is “in the process of closing” eight stores in the UK operated under license. Most of the 104 Superdry stores in the UK are operated directly by the company, and there are currently no plans to shut down any of them, the retailer said. Since May, the British lifestyle and apparel retailer has closed branches in Stoke On Trent, Ipswich, Luton, Telford and Lincoln. Three more are set to close by the end of the year, including Bury St Edmonds and two other locations that have not yet been revealed. In May, Superdry raised £12 million (€13.9 million) by issuing new shares as part of a turnaround program, as we reported at the time. The retailer’s founder and CEO, Julian Dunkerton, supported the entire equity raising.
