Fitasy has unveiled breakthrough technology enabling custom-fit 3D-printed shoes via smartphone scanning, designed to enhance foot health and reduce waste.
Fitasy Inc., an Indianapolis-based sport tech company, announced on Dec. 9 a patent-pending “scan-to-print” solution that allows consumers to create custom-fit 3D-printed shoes using only a smartphone.
The process captures a precise 360° model of both feet in weight-bearing and relaxed positions, analyzed by Spatial AI and advanced imaging to generate a personalized fit profile. Shoes are then 3D-printed with a triple-layer lattice structure from a single recyclable material, offering superior shock absorption, reduced impact, and better arch support—critical for athletes and active consumers.
Fitasy’s innovation addresses a long-standing issue in athletic footwear: ill-fitting shoes. By combining precision fit, performance benefits, and sustainability, the company positions itself as a disruptor in the sporting goods industry. The recyclable design eliminates multi-material waste common in traditional shoes.
The company plans to showcase its technology at CES 2026 in Las Vegas, with consumer orders expected to begin in Spring 2026. Testimonials from podiatrists and sports leaders, including NFL executive Troy Vincent, highlight its potential impact on performance and recovery.
CEO Yujun Wang emphasized the challenge of traditional mass-produced sizing and the need for affordable personalization, noting that whilst many aspects of wellbeing have been personalized through technology, footwear has remained standardized despite the foot’s complexity—33 joints, 26 bones, and over 100 muscles working together with each step.
Fitasy’s technology was developed in-house by a multidisciplinary team of engineers, material scientists, and computational imaging specialists with experience from MIT, Caltech, the University of Wisconsin, and Imperial College London.
