The Federal Supreme Court of Switzerland, which is the supreme court of the Swiss Confederation, has delivered a judgment stating that schools cannot ask parents more than CHF 16 (€14-$17) per day as a contribution to the costs for compulsory excursions and snow sports camps. The judgement was issued last December. According to the Swiss Snow Sports Initiative (Initiative Sport de Neige Suisse), the recent decision by the Federal Supreme Court threatens the incentives for the promotion of snow sports at school that have been supported by the Swiss Parliament. Without a higher financial contribution, Swiss schools may well no longer be in a position to offer excursions and snow sports to their students. The Swiss Snow Sports Initiative promotes snow sports and camps at attractive prices through its platform gosnow.ch. Its founding members include, among others, the Swiss Tourism Federation and ASMAS, which gathers around 750 Swiss sporting goods stores.
