Åre Skidfabrik, an alpine ski factory located in Åre, Sweden, has fully or partially taken over the production of skis for three Norwegian ski brands: SGN Skis, Stereo Skis and Moonlight Mountain Gear. According to Sportfack's news service, the three ski brands made the decision to move production from lower-cost countries to Sweden independently of each other. In addition, other existing clients have placed higher orders with the factory, the only one that makes alpine skis in Scandinavia. The plant started out by producing skis for another Norwegian brand, Åsnes, and under its own brand name, Extreme. After four years under the ownership of a Norwegian group, the Swedish factory was repurchased in 2011 by its founders and three new investors.
