Lululemon has introduced to the North American market a new garment line, called Unrestricted Power, for “heavy lifts and demanding gym sessions” – designed to be soft and not to ride up or slip down during, say, barbell squats. Its release in EMEA, Asia-Pacific and mainland China is slated for “later this year.”

The line’s items are made of a new, proprietary fabric called PowerLu, itself made with a yarn that boasts a filament count near 80.

Unrestricted Power consists of men’s and women’s items, among them the High Rise Tight (no inseam, raised yoke, “no-dig” waistband), the Power Short (liner designed to reduce the sensation of riding-up, four-way stretch outer shell) and the Cropped Long Sleeve (lightweight, second-skin top designed for uninhibited movement).

Lululemon has developed the line, in consultation with at least two of its sponsored athletes: Lewis Hamilton and Kayla Jeter. Hamilton is a Formula 1 driver – formerly with Mercedes and now with Ferrari – famed for tying Michael Schumacher’s record for most World Drivers’ Championships, at seven. Jeter is a former Division I volleyball player and the founder of 100MilesofSummer, a program in which “walkers, joggers, runners, and rollers worldwide” strive to log 100 miles from May through August.
