Canterbury is launching its “Fair Game” initiative, which aims to provide every school child in the U.K. with a free sports kit to support families struggling with the cost of living crisis. To launch the campaign, Canterbury is donating £100,000 (€115,800) worth of sports kits to U.K. schools through charity partner In Kind Direct. The rugby brand is also calling on other sportswear manufacturers to join forces and donate to In Kind Direct to ultimately kit out every school child in the U.K.
With inflation at a 40-year high and the average school uniform for secondary school pupils already costing £337 (€390) a year, many parents are struggling to afford school uniforms or PE kits for their children. Without sports kits, children are unable to participate in physical education classes or school sports, which can have both physical and mental effects. Canterbury hopes to provide some relief to families affected by the cost of living crisis and is calling on brand owners to join the cause.
Brands and companies can join the effort by donating much-needed sportswear and equipment to In Kind Direct. In Kind Direct distributes the products to a network of pre-approved schools, community groups and other charities across the U.K. For more information, click here. Schools, community groups or other charities interested in the donated kits can register to become part of In Kind Direct’s network here.
