Thermore adds a second-generation textile-to-textile product to its recycled insulation range, targeting fashion and sportswear brands that need certified, performance-grade fill without virgin polyester.

Thermore, the Milan-based thermal insulation supplier, has introduced Ecodown Fibers T2T, a loose-fill insulation built from recovered polyester waste generated within the textile supply chain — a step the company positions as genuine circularity rather than the lower-grade recovery that typically characterizes textile recycling.

The product is composed of 100 percent recycled polyester, combining 80 percent post-industrial textile scrap with 20 percent post-consumer PET bottles. Unlike conventional textile recovery processes, which tend to yield lower-performance outputs, Ecodown Fibers T2T is designed to match the quality standards of Thermore’s broader product range — the company’s stated benchmark for the project from the outset.

Second generation, not a first step

Thermore frames the launch not as an exploratory move but as a progression from earlier work. “I have personally coordinated the Thermore research group for years, and the theme of circularity and textile-to-textile has long been the subject of study by our team,” said Patrizio Siniscalchi, Managing Director of Thermore. “Ecodown Fibers T2T is already the second generation of padding we have produced using these important resources.”

That trajectory matters commercially. Thermore introduced its first recycled thermal insulation — made from PET bottles — in the early 1980s, and has since built a client base spanning sportswear, performance apparel and luxury fashion. Documented partners include EA7 Emporio Armani, a technical partner for its Ecodown Fibers Genius product; Paul & SharkBogner Sport; Zegna Sport; and Nike, among others. The company’s 2024 Invisiloft product was specifically developed for high-performance sportswear applications — an indication of where Thermore sees growth beyond the outdoor segment.

Technical and certification profile

Ecodown Fibers T2T is a free-fiber construction, meaning it can be blown into baffled channels, placed inside panels or applied by hand — offering production flexibility across garment formats. Its fiber structure is engineered to minimize clumping over time, which has historically been a durability concern with loose-fill synthetics.

On the certification front, the product holds three independent standards: GRS (Global Recycled Standard), which verifies recycled content and supply-chain traceability; Bluesign, which covers chemical substance control in processing; and OEKO-TEX Standard 100, which addresses product safety and health compliance.
